1. Ice Cream and Sandcastles

Tenby can boast three amazing sandy beaches right here in the town, Tenby South Beach, Tenby North Beach and Tenby South Beach.  So there are plenty of options of places for you too spread out and enjoy the sunshine with your family.  There is a lot of space for you to build sandcastles, enjoy a summer-read and play in the sea.  And whilst you’re at it why not enjoy an ice cream and for a real family sea-side holiday.

2. Visit the Monks on Caldey Island

If you want to escape the buzzing streets of Tenby then the monastery at Caldey should be on your Pembrokeshire holiday itinerary.   The first Monastery on this island was founded in the sixth century and thrived during the Middle Ages. The current monastery was built in the 1900’s and is a fine example of Arts and Crafts style architecture.  Take the Tenby Ferry over for a family day out to visit the medieval church, spot some wonderful wildlife, and maybe buy some of the cheese, perfume, or one of the other products produced by the monks themselves.

3. Step Back in Time

The National Trust owned Tudor Merchant’s House is a wonderful spot in Tenby.  Tucked away on Quay Hill overlooking the harbour the Tudor Merchant’s House reflects the life and experience of a wealthy family at the turn of the 16th century.   Look out for living history experiences during your summer holiday this year to get the most out of your trip.   Tenby also houses its own characterful Museum and Art Gallery, which is well worth a quick visit during your holiday in Tenby – it is the oldest independent museum in Wales!

4. See some real-life Heroes

Tenby has had it’s fair share of life-boat stations, and the current one is open for the public to visit! Children love to see the lifeboat, and the friendly volunteer lifeboat crew are on hand to answer questions.  Once a fortnight the crew launch the life-boat for the crowd of people who gather to watch it.  Check out their website to keep up to date with events and launches.
