Tenby Days Out
Tudor Merchant House – the Tudor Merchant House, found right in the centre of Tenby brings the 1500’s to life! The National Trust owned property brings families together to live and understand the merchant’s shop, working kitchen and life.
Caldey Island – Just a stone’s throw from the shores of Tenby, Caldey Island is one of the Holy Islands of Britain and houses an order of Cistercian monks. You can take tours on the island and maybe buy some of the products produced by the monks. If you’re staying in Tenby it would be a shame not to take the opportunity of visiting this unique historical site.
Sea Fishing Tenby – There are lots of fishing trip providers based in the centre of Tenby who offer a range of fishing trips depending on ability and age. Manor House Wildlife Park – Also known as Anna’s Welsh Zoo. Owned by TV’s Anna Ryder Richardson this wildlife hotspot, situated in the beautiful Pembrokeshire Countryside is a lovely way to spend a day! With lots of events and opportunities to shadow a zoo-keeper Anna’s Welsh Zoo could be a real treat for you and the rest of the family.
Oakwood Theme Park – Oakwood Theme Park has rides and experiences for all ages and all tastes. Thrill seekers can line up for Megafobia, Speed, Hydro and Vertigo or those who prefer a milder ride can enjoy the crazy golf and pedalo’s. Oakwood Theme Park actually features in the Top 10 UK theme parks so why not take it in on your Pembrokeshire visit?
Pembroke Castle – Pembroke Castle, the birthplace of Henry VII is a mighty Welsh castle and is steeped in history. You and your family can explore the Labyrinth of passages and towers, watch out for spooky dungeon! When you’ve finished exploring the castle take a moment to enjoy a picnic lunch on the well kept lawn in the centre of the castle. Pembroke Castle also host events and living history days throughout the year so check out their website.
Manorbier Castle – Manorbier Castle has amazing views across to the sea and families love to explore the fascinating history of this little known Pembrokeshire castle. Make sure you leave enough time to have a look at the beautiful walled gardens.
Carew Castle – Carew Castle has an impressive history spanning over 2,000 years. This enormous castle is now sadly ruined however there is plenty for you to explore! There is also a 1 mile circular walk which is appropriate for wheelchairs and pushchairs. Carew Castle also boasts daily tours, so why not go and find out a little more about this historic castle!
Stackpole Estate – The Stackpole Estate, near Pembroke, encompasses several of the most spectacular places in South Pembrokeshire if not the whole of Wales. Pack the family up for a day at the beach at Barafundle Bay, or wonder through the Bosherston Lily Ponds. The National Trust owned Stackpole Estate is a beautiful stretch of the Pembrokeshire National Park Coastline and not to be missed.
Clerkenhill Adventure Farm – If you want to wear the little ones out then a day at Clerkenhill Adventure Farm should do just the job! With animals, pedal go-karts, an adventure trail, Frisbee golf course and so much more a day at Clerkenhill Adventure farm will fill your day with fun. Clerkenhill Adventure Farm re-opens at Easter this year.
Dinosaur Park – Tenby Dinosaur Park is another one for the littler members of your family. They can offer you and your family an outdoor playground, indoor adventure playground, activity centre, games garden and mile long Dinosaur Trail.
Folly Farm – Folly Farm has so much to offer – There is Folly Zoo which has over 250 animals including giraffes and penguins. They also have an adventure play park, vintage funfair, and the Jolly Farm where the kids can get up close and personal with the animals. It’s one of the most popular family days out in Pembrokeshire!
